Story- Sammie's Life 11-15

Chapter XI

"Mom, we’re leaving." I shouted.
"Okay, we’ll look for you in the crowd." She said back.
As we got into the car Jay said, "Okay, what is it you want to talk about?"
"I want to talk about football." I said with my head down.
"What about football?" he asked as he pulled out of the driveway.
"Do you think that if some one was really good, they should be allowed on the team?" I asked.
"Yea. Why do you ask?" He questioned as we pulled into Jarrad’s driveway. Jay honked the horn.
"No matter the race, religion, or sex?" I asked.
Jay was about to answer when Jarrad opened the door and asked, "You tell him yet?"
"No."
"Tell me what?" Jay asked.
"Answer my question first."
"Yes, I think it shouldn’t matter what race, religion or sex. Wait a minute. Do you mean you’re on the varsity team?" Jay said.
"Well what do ya know, he guessed it." Jarrad said.
"What are you thinking? Does mom know?" Jay asked.
"No, I’m afraid of what she’ll say. I’m only playing till you’re ready to play. If the coach keeps me on, he keeps me on." I said.
"Well, I guess, I support you. Is that why you came with me?"
"Yea, I figure mom will figure it’s me on the team, not you. Because of the roster."
"Right." Jay and Jarrad said at the same time.
"We’re here." We all said.
"Come on, let’s get ready." Jarrad said.
"I’ll walk with you," Jay said. "Is there anyone upset that you’re on the team?"
"One." I said.
"Who?" Jay asked.
"Krieg." Jarrad and I said.
"OF ALL PEOPLE!" Jay yelled.
"We’ve done a good job of controlling Krieg. Coach suspended him from all games." Jarrad said.
"He didn’t make the team if you’re wondering Jay." I said.
"Okay. Jarrad protect her okay? I don’t want Krieg to destroy her." Jay said.
"I will. Sammie’s like a sister sometimes. I wish I had a sister." Jarrad said.
"Well, you’d make a good brother," I told him. "Let’s go or we’ll be late."
"Good idea." Jarrad said.
As I finished changing in the coach’s office. There was a knock on the door.
"Yes?" I said.
"We’re meeting for a team conference in a few minutes." The voice said.
"Okay." I answered.
As I opened the door someone grabbed me from behind. I was about to scream but the person covered my mouth.
"Sammie, you coming or not?" Lee asked.
"Stay back, Lee or she gets hurt!" Krieg said.
"Okay, what do you want? Do you want to watch the game? What?" Lee asked.
"I want on the team! That’s what I want. Think you can handle that Lee?" Krieg asked.
"I’ll talk to coach. Where can I find you?" Lee asked.
"I’ll find you! Three minutes." Krieg said backing up and dragging me with him.
"Don’t worry, Samantha. We won’t let him hurt you." Lee said.
"Hurry, Lee," I said as he left.

Chapter XII

"Krieg, why are you doing this?" I asked.
"Because, I ain’t going to let a girl be where I should be." He said.
"I told you, I’m just playing till Jay is able to play. Is that so hard to comprehend?"
"Yea, considering I have a small brain." Krieg said.
"Krieg!" Someone said.
"Who’s there?"
"It’s Lee and Jarrad." Lee said.
"Well, what did the coach say?"
"He said you can be on the team if you stop harassing the other players." Jarrad said.
"Okay, I can try. Here’s your friend." He said pushing me towards Lee and Jarrad.
"Ya okay Samantha?" Lee asked.
"Yea, I’m fine Thanks." I said. I went and hugged Lee.
"Hey, what about me?" Jarrad asked.
"Thank you also." I said going over and giving him a hug, too. He held on.
"Come on let’s go beat the Rebels butts," Lee said.
"Good ides." Jarrad said as he started to follow Lee, still holding my hand.
"How do you think the team will do?" I asked Jarrad.
"Well, we beat them last year. Hopefully we’ll do it again this year." He answered.
"Let’s go beat them." I said and started jogging to catch up with Lee.

Chapter XIII

"Why didn’t you tell us you were on the team?" Mom said yelling.
"Because I knew this is how you’d react. Besides, I’m only playing till Jay’s able to play. Unless coach asks me to stay on and I will." I said.
"You most certainly will not stay on the team." Mom said.
"Oh, mom. She’s a good player. She scored three touchdowns. She helped the team win." Jay said standing up for me.
"Mrs. Koch, your daughter is one of the best players. It would suck if you didn’t let her stay on the team." Jarrad said, as he put his hands on my shoulders.
"I’ll think about it. But, I’m not guarantee anything." Mom said leaving the room.
"Thanks. I sure which I could have celebrated with you guys last night." I said.
"No problem. If it’s all right, how about dinner tonight to celebrate. I could call the team and have them meet us some where." Jarrad replied.
"No, that’s okay. But how about dinner with two of my favorite guys. Just us three?" I asked.
"Sounds good." They said together.
"It’s a date." I said.
"Bye." Jarrad said.
"What do you mean bye?" I asked.
"I have to get ready for tonight," he said. "See tonight man." He shook Jay’s hand.
"Yea, see ya later." Jay said and left.
"It looks like I get to show you to the way out." I said.
"Very well." He said.
We walked to the door. Jarrad opened it.
"I’ll walk you to your car." I said.
As we steeped out I shut the door.
"Can I ask you something?" Jarrad asked.
"Sure, but you just did." I said laughing.
"You know what I mean! Anyways, I was wondering, if I could give you a kiss." He said really fast.
"Let me get this straight?" I asked as I stepped closer. "You want to give me a kiss."
"Yes."
"Sure."
He put his arms around my waist and bent his head down and gave me a kiss. It was short and sweet.
"Thanks. I better go." Jarrad said heading towards his car.
"Okay. Wait!" I called.
"What?"
I ran and gave him a big hug. Then ran inside. As I was running I heard Jarrad say," Wow. She sure knows how to make a guy feel good."

Chapter XIV

"Hi, you guys ready?" Jarrad asked as I let him in.
"I’m ready. We have to wait for Jay." I told him.
"Thanks for this afternoon." Jarrad said.
"Your Welcome. I knew I liked you for more then one reason."
"Gee thanks." Jarrad said as he took my hand.
"You guys ready?" Jay asked.
"Yep." We said together.
"Okay let’s go." Jay said limping out the door.
"Jay, aren’t you going to use your cane?" I asked.
"Why? I have you two to lean on."
"You ready for the game Friday?" Jarrad asked.
"I think so. Are you ready?"
"I think so. I mean I think I’ll play better with my girlfriend at the game." He said.
"Oh," I said. "Oh my gosh, you don’t mean…"
"Only if she says yes." He answered.
"So Sammie are you going to say yes? If you don’t he’ll keep bugging you till you say yes." Jay said.
"Well, your answer?" Jarrad questioned. I reached up and pulled his head down and whispered, yes in his ear.
"All right." He said jumping up. When he landed he kissed me on the forehead.

Chapter XV

"All right! Who’s the wise guy that put this huge Hershey’s kiss in my locker?" Jarrad asked at Friday’s game.
"Take a guess. Maybe you have a secret admirer." Krieg said mockingly.
"I’ll go get Samantha for the meeting." Jarrad said.
There was a knock on the door.
"Special delivery for one Ms. Samantha Koch."
"Just a sec," I said. "Okay. Come in."
"Hello, Koch."
"Hi, did you find your birthday present in your locker?"
"That was from you?" Jarrad asked.
"It’s only part of your present. The rest is after the game." I told him.
"Okay. Come on we’ll be late for the team meeting."
"How’s Krieg doing?"
"In what sense? He’s prepped for the game."
"I thought he was warming the bench?" I asked.
"Coach is thinking about playing him."
"What? I thought he was suppose to warm the bench."
"Well coach is only thinking. I mean he’s afraid if he doesn’t let him play, he’ll hurt you more. So he’s only thinking about it."
