Samant part 2

"Who goes there?" A sorrowful and lonely voice said.
"It is Samant the Wizard," I said.
"Come in. I have been expecting you, but not this soon. I am assuming you want to know about your pass."
"That is true. The damsel as told me all that she knows. She suggested I come to you," I said kneeling before him.
"Oh she did, did she? Well get up and tell me what it is you wish to know," The oldest wizard said. He had white hair that went to his waist. His eyes were grass green and he wore a blue robe.
"I wish to know about my true parents and Zanthia," I told him getting up.
"Very well. Let’s see where to start. Ah yes, your true parents you say. They would be Helena and Lysander. Helena was, I mean is a very good wizard I was sorry to see her go to the evil but she fell in love with your father."
"You mean my mom was good and went evil?"
"Yes. Our village was never the same after that. Helena was the beauty of the town she was supposed to marry some one else, but she ran away with Lysander. Lysander was 35 when he met Helena. She was only 20, a little foolish if you ask me. Lysander made himself handsomer then he really was to get her attention. She said it wasn’t what he looked like that got her attention but his personality. They were married shortly after they returned to the evil side. Helena was a little mad to find out that Lysander had, had another child. Which meant she wasn’t his first wife. The little boy’s name was Zyzzyva. He was 17 when his father married Helena and he was the one that gave you to Zanthia."
"So Zyzzyva was telling the truth about him being my brother," I said bewildered.
"Yes. Now Zanthia was in his prime, at the ripe old age of 59. He only took the little girl because he knew Lysander and Helena. He didn’t want to see their first child killed. So he raised her, to make her believe she was born good and was all around good. He died when you were 6. Do you remember him?"
"He must have been the one I believed to be my father. After he died, I was sent to some kind of school. Where I was taught to be a wizard. When I was 10, I was moved to another school, where I met Jon and Gandof."
"Correct. Then, at age 14 you where placed in yet another school. Jon and Gandof went with. Who did you met at that school?"
"I met Alric, Kiya, Hiei, and Yazoo."
"Right. And from there you know what happens. Is there anything else you which to know?" He asked.
"Yes, is there any way to tell how much power a wizard has?"
"Of course. Whose power do you which to find out?"
"Jon’s, Gandof’s, and mine," I answered.
"Very well. Come back in a three weeks for the answer."
"Why so long?"
"It takes about a week to figure out one. I need to watch what they do to determine the power that they have."
"I will be back in three weeks. With Jon and Gandof with me," I said transporting myself back to the damsel’s castle. I knocked on the door.
"Who is it?" Someone asked.
"It is Samant the wizard."
"What do you want of the damsel?"
"I merely want to know if the wizards, dragon knights, healer, and cat that were visiting her are still here."
"No, they left. Where they went I don’t know, so don’t ask."
"Thank you," I said leaving.
I thought of where they might have gone. But I couldn’t think any place. So I transported myself to the house that Jon, Gandof and I share. When I got there, I went inside and found Yazoo on the table, eating catnip.
"Hi Yazoo. Where is everybody?" I asked going over to Yazoo.
"Let me think," He said taking some more catnip. "Alric and Kiya went for a walk somewhere. Hiei is somewhere in the house. Gandof is secretly following Alric and Kiya I believe. He lives for trouble I think."
"What about Jon, Yazoo? Where’s Jon?"
"He went off somewhere by himself. He said to tell you it’s The Spot. Whatever that means."
"Thanks Yazoo," I said heading out the door.
I knew exactly where Jon meant. He meant the place we first kissed. So I started towards the spot, just in case Yazoo was watching. Then I transported myself to Jon’s and my spot. Sure enough there was Jon. He had his back to me. I slowly and silently walked up to Jon and tapped him on the shoulder.
"What do you want?" He said harshly not realizing it was me.
"You, if it’s not too much to ask for," I said going to stand in front of him.
"Samant, I’m sorry I didn’t know it was you," Jon said putting his arms around me.
"That’s ok. I know you’re not very happy with me for not letting you come to see the oldest wizard with me," I said now putting my arms around him, so we’re embracing each other.
"No, Samant, that’s not why. I’m just afraid that they’ll get to you and take you back. Then you’ll end up marrying someone you don’t know," Jon said.
"Jon, you should know by now that there’s only one person in the world for me," I said.
"I know," He said.
We just stood there holding each other. I was hoping the moment wouldn’t end. Then Jon did something I never thought he’d do.
"Samant," he said getting down on his knee. "Will you marry me?"
I started to cry as I looked down at him. He got back up and pulled me to him. I kissed him.
"I’ll take that as a yes," He said. "Let’s go tell everyone."
"Jon, I need to think about this. If marrying me will get you hurt then no I won’t marry you. But…I mean I do want to but…it’s something I have to think about," I said holding him tighter.
"Ok."
That’s how we stood long after dark. We started to walk back to the house when some guys jumped out. They started to reach for me, when Jon cast sleep on them.
"Let’s get out of here," He said transporting us to the house.
"Oh, Jon. What are we going to do? There’s no way to hide from them," I said burying my face in his shoulder.
"We’ll figure something out," He said as he rubbed my back.
"Soon, I hope," I said. Looking down at my hand.
We went into the house and found Yazoo still working on the catnip. Hiei was standing in the living room working on his sword exercises.
"What happened?" Yazoo asked as we walked in.
"They tried to get Sam again," Jon said.
"I wish I didn’t have this stupid symbol," I said looking at it.
"Umm, Sam!" Hiei said is eyes wide.
"What Hiei?"
"You’re glowing," Yazoo said.
"NO! Not now. Why can’t they leave me alone?" I said looking at Jon.
"Sam why are you glowing?" Jon asked taking a step back.
"I think the mighty one is coming himself to get me," I said heading towards the door.
"Where are you going?" Hiei asked.
"Somewhere where they can’t hurt you guys," I said transporting to a place where I figured the mighty one would leave the others alone.
I looked around. It was a place I was unfamiliar with. It was an open field that had a few scattered trees. It looked like a good place to meet the mighty one for the first time. I was still observing when I heard a noise behind me.
"Can you tell me where to find Samant the wizard?" Said a booming voice that was very clear.
"Who’s asking?" I said turning around. I saw before me a man that was in complete black. He wore black pants, black shirt, and even his robe was black. His hair stood out though because it was white.
"I am from her past. I wish to return her to the evil side with me," He said.
"Oh. Then you must be the mighty one," I said starting to smirk.
"Yes, I am he. And who may I ask are you?"
"I am none other then, Samant the Wizard, whom you seek," I said giving a little bow.
"So you are she. Tell me why you refuse to come to my side."
"Ha I laugh in your face. That is a simple question and to which I have an answer. I refuse because my friends are here. My life is here. Why would I want to leave?"
"To be reunited with your true father, Lysander. Not that fake who pretended to be him."
"You say this as if I should rejoice in seeing Lysander, who you say is my father. I know only the one who raised me. I know no other father," I told him.
"You know no other because you were raised by that fool, Zanthia. And you wouldn’t have been if Zyzzyva hadn’t taken you to him."
"The way I hear it is that Zyzzyva wouldn’t have taken me to the good side if my father hadn’t told him to. I am happy being good. If you can give me five good reasons to join you on the evil side I will consider."
"Very well if you insist on five good reasons I shall give them to you. You will be reunited with your father. You shall meet your mother. You will be married to Timothy, my great great grandson. You will be able to meet your other siblings and get to know them."
"That’s four. One more or I don’t consider it at all."
"And the fifth good reason is that you will become most powerful female wizard on the evil side. Right now you are only the third most powerful wizard no matter what Zyzzyva says."
"Those are supposed to be good reasons. I don’t think I even need to think about it. I will not join you on the evil side. I have too much going for me." I said.
"Maybe a little persuasion is in order," The mighty one said. He mumbled some words and did some weird movements with his hands. Then right there in front of me was Jon.
"Sam, where am I?" Jon asked.
"Leave him alone, mighty one. It’s me you want," I said going to stand next to Jon.
"You see Samant, I have the power to eliminate this person. He will be spared if you come with me to be evil."
"WHY DO YOU WANT ME SO BAD?" I shouted at the mighty one.
"We want you because we need new blood. You will do quite nicely. All the others that were born evil and raised good have returned already. You are the last one," The mighty one said.
"Sam, don’t leave me. Don’t leave us. Do I, do we not mean anything to you?" Jon asked.
"Jon, you and the others mean everything to me. But if I don’t go, he’ll kill you and the others. I don’t want that."
"Sam, my life isn’t worth living if you aren’t in it. So if he takes you I don’t know what I’d do," Jon said taking my hands in his.
"Oh, now this brings tears to my eyes. I guess I now know why the good is so weak. You let your feelings get in the way," The mighty one said watching Jon and me.
"Jon, I feel the same way, in a way. But…" I said, not wanting to finish my sentence.
"Sam, what are you saying?" Jon said.
"Jon, if I don’t he’ll kill you and I couldn’t live with that. I guess I have no choice."
"Samant, come with me now. Or I shall get rid of this mere wizard. I don’t want to waste my power on him," The mighty one said starting to raise his wand.
"You are Sam’s grandfather?" Jon asked the mighty one.
"That’s not true. I am her great great grandfather," He said.
"Give me five reasons why you have to take her," Jon said still holding my hands.
"Very well if you insist on five good reasons I shall give them to you. She will be reunited with her father. She shall meet her mother. She will be married to Timothy, my great great grandson. She will be able to meet her other siblings and get to know them. The fifth good reason is that she will become most powerful female wizard on the evil side."
"Those are your five reasons? I would have thought you could think of five better reasons. I mean you have to realize that everything Samant cares about is here in Tronicia," Jon replied to the mighty one’s reasons.
"I’m so sorry you feel that way," The mighty one said.
Just as I was about to say something Kiya, Alric, Hiei, Yazoo, and Gandof appeared out of nowhere. They looked around for a little bit.
"SAMANT! OVER HERE!" Gandof shouted.
As the mighty one turned to look at them, a stone fell out of his pocket. Before he finished turning around, he vanished.
"Hey, were did he go?" Yazoo asked.
"He just vanished and something fell from his pocket, too," Alric said.
Kiya went over to where the stone dropped to the ground. I went over and stood beside her. The stone was just a few inches above the ground. Just floating, as if it were waiting for somebody to pick it up. I quickly mumbled a spell that would let me now if the stone was good or evil.
"Well, it doesn’t appear to be anything wrong with it. It seems perfectly safe. At least my magic says it’s safe," I said.
"I’ll try my spell and see if I get the same responds," Gandof said.
Gandof mumbled a different spell and the stone started to glow a little. I started to back up, bumping into Jon. Yazoo ran behind Hiei so as not to get hurt. Alric stood where he was not moving a muscle.
"I get the same response, Sam. But why would he have a stone that’s good one he’s evil? I think it’s a trick."
As Gandof was finishing his sentence, Kiya bent and picked up the stone. As she held it, I got a better look at it. It was a small with an unusual diamond like shape. The color was a bluish-purplish-black.
"This is a very interesting stone. I think I’ll keep it, it might come in handy sometime," Kiya said putting the stone in a pouch she kept at her side.
"Kiya, are you sure you should keep it? I mean it was the mighty one’s," Hiei said.
"But two wizards claim it is good not evil. So there can’t be anything wrong. So now where to?" Kiya said looking at the rest of us.
"What do you plan on doing with it?" Yazoo asked.
"I’m not sure…I’m going to hold on to it for a while though."
"Well there’s still some day left. That should be enough time to do something before we go back," Alric said walking over to Kiya and taking her hand in his.
"That’s a good idea," Gandof said running over to Jon. "Tag you’re it!"
Jon started running after Gandof and then changed his course. His course now was right to me. I stared wide-eyed for a while then turned around and started running.
"Sam, I never thought I’d end up chasing you," Jon said starting to catch up.
"Hey! I said I’d think about it. But I knew I’d have an answer soon," I said as I turned around again and started running towards Jon.
"What do you mean, Sam? " Kiya asked.
"Can’t say right now. Have to keep running," I said as I ran past Jon.
As I run past Jon, he just stuck out his hand and grabbed my wrist. He pulled me around and kissed me lightly on the lips.
"I got you this time," Jon said as he embraced me.
"Now Sam, what do you mean?" Kiya asked impatiently.
"Kiya, I was going to tell you. I really was," I said as I glanced at Kiya.
"What I think she wants to say is that she was going to get around to telling you that is that I have asked her to marry me," Jon said kissing me again.
"WHAT?" Kiya asked shocked.
"I said I’d think about it. But Jon thinks I’ll say yes," I said.
"So, Jon, you really want to settle down and become a family man?" Hiei asked jokingly.
"Yes, I do. I don’t think I could find any one better then Sam either," Jon said not taking Hiei’s joke lightly.
I looked over my shoulder and saw someone walking towards us.
"Who could that be? I mean in such a barren place," I asked.
"HELLO!" Gandof shouted to the figure.
The figure stopped for a moment and then waved. He ran towards us until we could see that it was a man.
"Hi, it’s a relief to see life forms. I am Eternal. And I am searching for Dragon Slayer Kain. Have you heard of him?" The man asked. He was wearing elfin armor. His hair was a reddish-orange and he had some sorta of symbol over his one eye.
"Perhaps introductions are in order first," Kiya said.
"Good idea. I’m Dragon Knight Alric," Alric said.
"A dragon knight, surely you have seen Kain in your adventures?"
"I’m Healer Kiya."
"I’m Gandof the wizard at your service."
"I’m Dragon Knight Hiei."
"Two dragon knights, I am lucky to have come across your group," The man said.
"I’m Jon the wizard, also at your service," Jon spoke proudly.
"I’m Yazoo Wazee the cat as you can see," Said Yazoo.
"A talking cat? How strange."
"That was my doing. I’m Samant the wizard."
"You must know some good spells to make a cat talk. Most of the spells I know are healing ones…and I’m not good at that. But it was pleasure to meet all of you. Now have you heard of Dragon Slayer Kain?"
"Most of the dragons around here are friendly. We usual don’t hire a dragon slayer for any reason," I said.
"I see. I must find him and seek revenge. He killed my father and mother."
"I thought he was a dragon slayer," Kiya said.
"He is. My father was a dragon and my mother was a human. But he killed her just for fun."
"I’m so sorry," I said.
"Please I don’t need sympathy. I have had enough. I look after myself now."
"As much as I hate to leave, I have to go heal one Damsel’s knights. So if you’ll excuse me," Kiya said.
"I’ll join you," Alric chimed.
"Where do you have to go Kiya? I can transport you," Gandof said.
"Thank you. To Damsel’s castle will do."
As Gandof transported Kiya and Alric, Eternal and Hiei started talking about dragons.
"No, that’s where you’re wrong. Kain can kill dragons with one swipe of his sword," Eternal said.
"No that’s not possible. Let’s ask Sam."
"Very well. Samant, do you think it’s possible to kill a dragon with one swipe of a sword?" Eternal asked me.
"Umm…let me think about that one."
"It’s a yes or no question," Hiei said.
"Hiei if I say yes you’ll want a reason. If I say no Eternal will want a reason. So let me think about it."
"She has a very good point, you know," Jon said joining in.
"I say yes and no," I answered.
"Yes and no. Explanation please," Eternal asked.
"Very well. Yes, because, if the person killing the dragon wants it over fast they will do it in one swipe. Also if the person is an expert at killing dragons he might do it in one swipe. But I also say no, because if the person killing the dragon wants it to be a slow and painful death he will use more then one swipe. Also is the person isn’t and expert it would take more then one swipe."
"Very well put Sam," Jon said leaning over to give me a kiss.
"Thanks," I said lowering my head so that Jon couldn’t give me one.
"Yes very well put. I see what you mean," Eternal said.
"I guess we were both right," Hiei said.
"Both right about what?" Gandof said coming back now that he was done transporting Kiya and Alric.
"Dragon slaying," Eternal and Hiei said at the same time.
"Oh."
"Hiei, I think we should be going to Damsel and telling her about the fight. We forgot to last time we were there and I’m sure she’d like to know what happened," Yazoo said jumping up onto my shoulder. I reached up and started to pet him.
"Good idea Yazoo. Nice to meet you Eternal. Jon could you transport us?"
"Sure."
"My pleasure, Hiei and Yazoo."
"I just remembered, I have to go talk to the priest. So I’ll just go with you and Yazoo, Hiei," Jon transported himself, Hiei and Yazoo to Damsel’s castle.
"Well it looks like it’s down to us three," Eternal said.
"Yes it does," I said.
"No it’s down to the two of you. I have to go. The oldest wizard summoned me earlier today. I’ve been ignoring him, not a wise idea. So I better go before I get into more trouble."
"Alright, bye Gandof."
"Bye Sam. Bye Eternal."
"Bye Gandof. It was nice meeting you," Eternal said.
Gandof transported himself to the oldest wizard’s house. It was just Eternal and myself, I could tell he was a little nervous. He kept tripping over his feet.
"Eternal, do you mind if I ask you something?"
"No, go ahead."
"Why are you so nervous?"
"Oh…umm…this is the first time I’ve been around a girl, alone."
"I see. Tell me about yourself."
"There’s not much to tell. My life is finding Kain. What about you?"
"Well, I was born evil. My brother, Zyzzyva, took me by my father’s orders, to the good wizard, Zanthia. So I was raised good. I was brought over here, because at the time I would have been killed when I became three months old. I found out from Zyzzyva earlier this week that I really was born evil. Now the mighty one wants me back because they need females. But, all my friends are kind of sticking up for me and telling the mighty one that he can’t have me. But it doesn’t seem to be working. And now Jon wants me to marry him…but I just don’t know. I mean I do love him or think I do. Why am I telling you all this?"
"Because I asked. But I suppose I should tell you more about my life."
"That would be nice." I said.
"Let’s see where to start…" Eternal said.
"The beginning is a good spot."
"Yea. Ok, here it goes…Dream Walkers are a type of mage whose magic is strong, and usually has some effect over Dreams. Dream Walkers can be easily identified by a mark. Each Dream Walker has some sort of a unique mark on them somewhere. The best example of this is the mark on my face." He took a breath. "Ready for a little history? Aeuroch and Dementia were young lovers of long ago. Dementia had a falling out with the Dream Walkers, and decided it would be best if she killed all of them. So she set out to do just that. Even with Aeuroch’s help she was unable to defeat ALL of the Dream Walkers, and they sealed her in a realm beyond hell. For his involvement, Aeuroch was damned to walk earth forever, even after his own death. As time passed, Aeuroch continued Dementia’s wish of destroying the Dream Walkers... but as his body grew decrepit, he hired a Dragon Slayer to do his dirty work for him - Kain. Kain set out and managed to kill the last few dream walkers, leaving only one – Infinity, my father. My father had just started his life with my mother, Elayne, when Kain showed up, and demanded father’s head. Of course, father wouldn’t go down without a fight, but even then he was no match for the power Aeuroch had bestowed on Kain. Alas, father was slain. After Kain had killed father, mother was shocked to discover that she was pregnant with me. After I was born, she was scared that Kain would return, so she never told me of my father, or Kain. Eventually though, Kain did find out - and he began his hunt for me. When I was about five, Kain appeared and was bent on slaying me, mother held him off as best she could, while I managed to escape. Enraged, Kain killed mother... Not knowing that I was still there, and watching. Now I am bent on avenging my mother."
When Eternal was done with his story he looked down at his feet.
"Wow, I never knew someone could have such a big background…mine’s so dinky compared to yours." I said.
"Thanks, now I just want to hunt Kain down and get my father’s horn back."
Eternal wasn’t as nervous as he was to begin with. He was beginning to relax.
"You are easy to talk to Samant." He said.
"Please call me Sam, and thank you." I said as I unbuttoned my cloak. Eternal was walking towards a tree when he stumbled over a tree root. I ran and caught him but with his armor he was too heavy for me to hold up and we both fell. He landed on top of me and when he realized this, his face turned red.
"Umm…sorry." He said.
"Don’t be." I said as he rolled over and got off of me.
Eternal got up and looked off into the distance. I got up and stood beside him.
"Maybe the damsel would know where to find this Kain person you seek."
"You think she might?"
"There’s only one way to find out."
I transported us to Damsel’s castle. We were at the drawbridge. I knocked on it.
"Who goes there?" the man asked us.
"It is Samant the wizard."
"Eternal, last of the dream walkers."
"One moment, I’ll go ask her."
I looked at Eternal. "Are you really the last dream walker?"
"Yes."
"Damsel has been wanting to see a dream walker for some time now."
"The Damsel shall see you. She awaits in her room," The man said.
"I know the way, if you don’t mind following me that is," I told Eternal.
"I don’t mind," He said and then more quietly so that I wouldn’t hear (but obviously I did) "I’d follow you anywhere, only because you’re different."
As I lead the way, Eternal just slowly followed admiring the castle.
"We’re here."
"That was fast."
I knocked on the door.
"Come in, please," Damsel said.
I opened the door and held it for Eternal.
"Samant, it is good to see you, again. Oh, and who is this with you?"
"It’s nice to see you again also Damsel. This Eternal, the last dream walker. He se…"
"A dream walker? And the last one to boot." Damsel said interrupting.
"Yes, I am the last of the dream walkers. My father, also a dream walker, was killed and I was hoping you could help me find the person who did it."
"Why do you come to me asking?" Damsel asked him but was looking at me.
"Damsel, I merely thought that maybe your father might have hired a dragon slayer when he was alive and that it would be who Eternal is searching for," I said looking at my feet.
I could tell Damsel was looking back and forth between the two of us. I was nervous and was thinking I never should have come back.
"I see. I’d have to check my father’s records to see if he hired a dragon slayer… Wait a dragon slayer? But he is human." She said.
"My father was a dragon, my mother a human. Kain killed both. He doesn’t just hunt dragons, what ever pays the bills."
"Kain? That’s his name. It doesn’t sound familiar. But that means nothing. I will have my father’s records checked, for a favor."
"A favor would be the only pay I could give anyway," Eternal said.
"The favor I ask is that you walk my dreams."
"You have to be a-asleep for that," He stammered.
"Samant, would you cast sleep on me please?"
