Samant 5

"Well hello. Sam right?" Orion said.
"Yes. I’d like you to meet Dragon Knight Alric. Alric this is Priest Orion."
"Pleased to meet you Priest Orion." Alric said sticking out his hand.
"Please just Orion. May I call you Alric?" Orion said taking Alric’s hand.
"You may. Would you care to join us for a bite to eat?"
"I wouldn’t want to intrude."
"Oh no you aren’t intruding…Please have a seat." I said.
"Once again, I am amazed at your kindness to strangers." Orion said as he pulled out a chair at a near by table and sat down.
"Oh you get use to that. Sam’s always this friendly to people." Alric said pulling a chair out for me and then taking a chair for himself.
"Okay so I’m overly friendly. I’m always like that."
"Always you say. That is good. Though watch out who you are friendly too. It may come back and hurt you. I’ve learned that lesson already."
Just as Orion said that a waitress came over. She looked at Alric and gave him a cute little smile implying "I’m almost done with work…take me up to a room and I’ll show you a good time." Then she looked at Orion and gave him a little frown as if wondering what a priest was doing in a place like this. Then she looked at me and her eyes widened.
"Samant! Is it really you?" The girl said.
"Misty? My gosh I haven’t seen you in a few years." I said as I studied how she looked. Misty had really long dirty blonde hair, it went to a little below her thighs. She only stood 5’2", but was she loaded with a lot of sass.
"Yes it’s me. I can’t belief you’d actually remember me. I mean…"
"Misty how could I forget you. Everyone was afraid of you and your sassy mouth." I said.
"Really? You mean it’s been paying off." She looks back at Alric. "Are you going to introduce me to your companions?"
"Oh yes. This is Dragon Knight Alric and Priest Orion."
"Nice to meet you." Alric and Orion said at the same time.
"Oh I better get back to work. What will you have?"
"Just a glass of water for me." I said.
"I think I’ll take, umm, eggs, bacon, and 2 muffins." Alric said. "Oh and milk."
"I think I’ll stick to a glass of water also." Orion said.
"Ok 2 water, 1 milk, 1 egg, 1 bacon, and 2 muffins. I’ll be right back." Misty said as she went to give her order to the cook.
"So Orion tell us a little bit about yourself." Alric said.
"There’s nothing of importance to tell. I’m just traveling."
"Just traveling. We don’t get many people just traveling anymore." Alric said as Misty came back with the food and drinks.
"Here you are." She said placing it all down and then leaving again.
Alric started eating the food. He smiled as he looked up at me. He had his mouth full as he finished off the first muffin.
"Is it good Alric?" I asked.
"Oh yes," he said then he whispered so only we could hear. "Though I think I like Sarah and Omar’s café better."
Orion just sat and drank his water. As soon as he was finished he handed Alric some money to pay for his drink.
"I must be going. I have some things to tend to."
"Alright. Nice seeing you again Orion." I said.
"Nice meeting you" Alric said through bites.
We watched as Orion left. Alric kept eating his food as I took a sip from my glass of water.
"I wonder what Orion really is doing here? We don’t get many travelers around here…Tronicia isn’t the place to travel to…pass through yes, travel no." Alric said.
"I know. Here I’ll go pay." I said as I took the money that Orion left and took the money that Alric handed me. I walked over to the bar. I waited for someone to come over.
"You leaving so soon Samant?" Misty asked from behind.
"No I’m just paying now. Alric is still eating."
"Oh here I can take care of the money for you." Misty said as I handed her the money. Then I walked back to the table and rejoined Alric.
"There that’s all taken care of."
"Okay."
"Alric do you know what time it is?"
"I think it’s around 10:30ish. Why you don’t want to be late for your date with Eternal do you?"
"No I don’t."
"Alright go ahead. I’ll be fine. We’ll talk more later."
"You sure?"
"Yes go!"
"Okay, okay. I’m going." I said as I walked out of the tavern. I didn’t know where to go but then I spotted Eternal. I ran over to him. "Hey Eternal."
"Hi Sam. I’m surprised to see you here. It’s not noon yet."
"I was over at the tavern talking with Alric."
"Oh? Is everything ok?"
"Yes, he just wanted to talk about all that’s been happening…like Kiya and him breaking off the wedding."
"Oh I see. I still have a few errands to run…you’re welcomed to join me."
"Alright. So where to?"
"Well I need to buy some flowers."
"Oh that’s easy. Awesome’s wife owns a flower shop. It’s over towards the café."
"Who’s Awesome again?"
"He’s one of Damsel’s wizards. But his wife insisted on having the shop just incase Damsel ever decided he wasn’t needed anymore. At least that’s how she puts it."
As we walked to the flower shop Eternal took my hand. I looked at him and smiled. He just nodded. When we got to the flower shop Eternal opened the door for me.
"Hello can I help you?" A female’s voice asked.
"Yes I need to buy some flowers." Eternal said.
"Alright. Any certain kind? A certain occasion?" Awesome’s wife stepped out from behind a bouquet of flowers she was working on. She was medium height with reddish brown hair that came to her shoulders. She had brown eyes. "Samant how good to see you."
"Morning, Leah." I said as I nodded. "This is Eternal. Eternal Leah."
"Nice to meet you." Leah said.
"The pleasures mine. Now about those flowers, I just need some irises."
"Ok I think I can handle that. Colors?"
"Unique. They’re for someone special."
"Ok." Leah went to a different counter and started looking at the flowers. She slowly picked a few irises of one color and then some of another. When she was done it was a beautiful bouquet. She came back and handed it to Eternal. "Well that do?"
"Oh yes it will…what do I owe you?"
"We’ll settle that later. I send you the bill…where should I send it to the inn?"
"No my house Leah. He’s staying in one of the guestrooms."
"Very well." She said. "I shall see you around."
"Bye Leah." Eternal and I said at the same time. We walked out of the shop, Eternal carrying the flowers.
"Who are those for?" I asked as we stopped so Eternal could figure out what was next.
"Oh I should deliver them shouldn’t I?"
"You should…unless you plan on keeping them yourself."
"No I don’t so here you go." He said handing me the bouquet.
"Their for me?!"
"Yes…I said someone special. Didn’t I?"
"You did!" I said and I kissed him on the cheek.
"Sam I have something to ask and I hope it’s not being to intruding on your life…"
"Alright."
"Did you love Jon?"
"Now what brought that on?" I said as I picked up the flowers. I walked over to the fountain, which is in the middle of the square. I sat down on the edge and patted the spot next to me.
"I don’t know…"
"Yes I did love Jon. But I think we rushed and that’s why it didn’t turn out. But I can’t say for sure."
"Maybe I shouldn’t have asked. It isn’t my place to ask…"
"No it’s ok Eternal" I said as I took his hand. "You have a right to ask…if we’re going to be really good friends you need to know things about me. And I actually feel more comfortable talking to you about it then I did with Kiya. I didn’t tell her much."
"Sam…I have a question…it’ may seem a little odd…but can I kiss you?"
"Sure…I don’t think you can hurt me."
Eternal cupped my face in his hands and kissed me softly.
"That wasn’t so bad was it?" I asked.
"No it wasn’t," He said kissing me again.
"Hey…does this mean something or are we just really good friends that kiss?"
"Well…would you…I mean that is could you ever love a revenging seeking traveler who can never stay in one place?"
"I think I could…what are you getting at?"
"Well would you be my beloved?"
"Eternal I would be honored. Though do you think you could love an evil person by birth?"
"I think I could…in fact I know I could…I do don’t I?"
"That you do…that you do." I said and took Eternal’s hand. "Any more errands?"
"No my errands are done. You want to go get that bit to eat?"
"Alright. Any place you want to eat?"
"Well we ate at the café already…any other good places to eat?"
"There’s the tavern it’s not too bad."
"The tavern it is." Eternal said getting up he offered me his hand and I took it.
"Oh what about the flowers? Oh I know." I said as I mumbled some words and the flowers disappeared. "There we’ll see the flowers when we get home."
We headed towards the tavern when we ran into Gandof.
"Hey you two." Gandof said.
"Hey yourself Gandof." I said. I then noticed that Gandof noticed that Eternal and I were holding hands.
"Umm…I’m not interrupting anything am I?" Gandof asked.
"No you’re not. We were just heading to the tavern to get something to eat." Eternal answered him.
"Why the tavern? My parents own the café. I was heading there soon to get a bite to eat…then I don’t have to pay."
"Well, Eternal it’s up to you." I said.
"Sure why not? The foods good, the service is good. I’ll go back. Besides the company is the best." He said and he gave my hand a little squeeze.
"Cool. I’m sure mom won’t mind letting you guys eat for free. Sam you know you’re one of her favorites. Oh and I hope you don’t mind but I told her you and Jon broke up…she was happy to hear that. For some reason she didn’t think he was right for you."
"Ok Gandof. We’ll join you." I said. "Am I really one of her favorites?"
"You are." Gandof said as he smiled.
"Cool." I said blushing a little.
"You look beautiful when you blush." Eternal said.
"Stop it."
"He’s right you know." Gandof said.
"Can we just go eat…" I said as I headed towards the café.
When I reached the café I turned around and Gandof and Eternal were right behind me. I opened the door and held it for them.
"Why thank you ma’am." Gandof and Eternal said.
"Mom won’t mind if we just pick a spot to sit." Gandof said leading us to a spot by a window. Soon Sarah was on her way over to thee table.
"Gandof, how nice of you to come visit your parents." She said jokingly.
"Aw come on mom. I told you I’d visit. Besides I have some good news."
"Good news?" Sarah asked looking from Gandof to me and back to Gandof.
"Yes, I’m getting my own house."
"But…" Sarah turned and looked at me. "I thought he was staying at your house so that you could keep it?"
"He was but he decided to get his own place, I wasn’t about to stop him." I answered.
"So then how will you keep your house…I heard Jon was moving too."
"That’s true. But Eternal will be staying with me. So I don’t have to worry about it. But if I was I could always rent one of my rooms."
"I see…well what can I get you?"
"Don’t worry Sarah, I won’t let anything bad happen to Samant." Eternal said.
"Alright."
"Hey mom, can I have my favorite soup?"
"Do you really want it?"
"Yes, no one makes it like dad." Gandof replied.
"Ok. Samant and Eternal what will you have?"
"I think I’ll have chicken dumpling soup and some bread." I said.
"And I will have a venison sandwich." Eternal said.
"Ok, so chicken dumpling soup, venison sandwich, and mustard soup, coming right up."
We waited and talked about different things. Gandof tried to get Eternal to talk about his past but it didn’t seem to be working.
"I prefer not to talk about the past…I mean they should have no effect on the present though it sometimes does. But I would prefer to concentrate on my future and I might settle down if I ever get Kain." Eternal said.
Sarah came back with our food. She handed each of us our bowl or plate and then left again.
"What do you plan to do when you find Kain?" Gandof asked.
"Take revenge for him hurting those I love and care for."
"How’s your soup Gandof?" I said trying to change the subject.
"It’s great! Just like I remember it. How’s your soup Sam?"
"It’s perfection. Like all of your dad’s recipes."
We finished eating in silence. I don’t know why, but Gandof seemed to get my settle hint to let Eternal’s past stay in the past.
"I think I should go home and clean the house. Gandof when will you come get your things?"
"Umm…sometime next week."
"Ok, see you then." I said as Eternal and I got up. We walked to the door and this time Eternal opened it for me. I walked out and looked up at the sky. Not a cloud in the sky it’s was a beautiful day. Eternal came and stood next to me and then took my hand. We started walking towards the house. We were about half way there when we ran into Kain.
"Kain!" Eternal said.
"Ah my dear boy, we meet again. Now to finish you off."
"Wait…isn’t there any other way?" I asked and Kain suddenly grabbed my wrist and held a dagger to my throat.
"Kain I wouldn’t hurt her if I were you…she’s wearing the amulet."
"So she is but I have decided that your mother never could and never did love me so it means nothing. Now would you like her lovely throat to be cut and blood spurting forth and get her clothes all bloody," Kain said, then he moved the dagger so it was by my chest. "Or perhaps you’d rather I deform her breasts?"
"I would prefer you did nothing to her…"
"Please, let me go." I begged.
"I don’t think so, Samant isn’t it? Well you see I will kill one of you or both and more likely both. I mean I’m sure I can get some money for the amulet and perhaps something for your cloak. It’s in pretty good shape."
"Please, I have nothing to do with this." I said.
"Oh but you do. You see you’re the bait I need to get Eternal to do what I want. Last time you as bait didn’t work as well but I’m sure it will this time."
"Kain, let her go. It’s me you want. You want the last dream walker. She isn’t that. I am."
"But Eternal, you see she is special. She’s what I need to get to you."
I squirmed a little trying to get free but Kain just tightened his grip on me. I screamed in pain.
"I’d let her go if I were you." A strange voice said.
"Who said that?" Kain said because he couldn’t see who it was either.
The person came and walked in front of us and stood near Eternal.
"Orion…" I said.
"Samant, who is this foul old man that refuses to let you go?"
"I am not a foul old man, priest. You have no business here."
"Oh but I do…I’m merely returning a favor."
Orion and Kain had a little face off and finally Kain shoved me at Eternal. The force of me being shoved knocked both Eternal and I on the ground. Kain dropped the dagger when he shoved me. Then Orion stepped closer to Kain and they got into a little battle. Eternal and I just watched from the ground.
"Are you okay?" Eternal whispered. I just nodded.
I watched Kain and Orion as they kept getting closer to a cliff. Kain was the one closer to the edge of the cliff. Orion kept punching Kain in the stomach not giving Kain a chance to pull his sword. Finally Orion gave him one last punch that was enough for Kain to fall off the cliff. Orion came strolling back over to us like nothing had happen.
"Are you alright Samant?"
"Yes I’m fine Orion."
"Here let me help you up." Orion said as he offered me his hand.
"Thanks." I said as I took his hand. He pulled me up and then did the same for Eternal.
"Well I guess we won’t be seeing anymore of Kain." Eternal said.
"No I should hope not. If you do, it’ll be in your dreams."
"Or a ghost…" I said in responds to Orion’s dream comment.
"I most be going back to the inn…I don’t plan on staying much longer."
"Alright, thanks Orion." Eternal said.
Orion nodded to us and headed back to town.
"He’s an interesting man, Orion is." I said.
Eternal and I walked back to the house. When we got there, I went in and started cleaning the house.
"You know you don’t have to do that right now. You had quite a scare." Eternal said walking over to me.
"No I have to…it’s the only way I’ll keep from shaking and forgetting that it happened."
"But Sam, Kain is dead it won’t happen again."
"No but the mighty one could use you as bait for me. He used Jon for bait and I have a feeling it won’t be easy to kill like Kain."
"I suppose, you stay here I’m going to go and find some wood to make a fire."
"Okay…but don’t be too long, it’s starting to get dark out."
"I won’t be long." He said as he came over and kissed me on the forehead. Then he walked out the door. I went back to cleaning. I cleaned out Jon’s old room. It still had some of his stuff in it. But I figured it was things he didn’t want. But I put them in Gandof’s room for now. Then I worked on cleaning the one quest room I had. I made the bed. After the quest room I worked on my own. I swept the floor, made the bed, changing the sheets first. I looked out the window in my room, it was completely dark out and Eternal wasn’t back yet.
"Where could he be?" I said out loud to myself. I went to the door and stepped out. I saw a figure over by a tree. "Hello?"
"Hello Samant. I hope you don’t mind that I came to pay you a visit."
"Oh not at all Orion…I didn’t think you knew where I lived though."
"Oh it’s the same house, you never did move out of it…"
"You’re right I didn’t…I built this house…wait I never DID move out…what are you talking about Orion?"
"I knew you’d ask…I’ve come to kill you, my mother, so that ‘they’ can’t take me in the future. If I’m not born they can’t take me. That and my sister, with the mixture of your evil blood and father’s dreamwalker blood, would become very powerful. But I solved that problem already." He said as he stepped closer to me. I slowly backed into the house and quickly shut the door behind me. I locked it and put a chair in front of the door. I ran to the back of the house and hid in Jon’s old room. I heard the Orion kicking the door and then I heard the door falling. I tried to stay still so not to make any noise. "Please mother make it easy for yourself. It won’t hurt I promise you that. Eternal didn’t feel anything. The blow to the head with the sword did the trick." I heard him walking towards the back of the house but checking the other rooms first.
"Go away Orion, I don’t know what you’re talking about!" I yelled.
"Oh mother, you let ‘them’ take me because you were scared. Dad wasn’t there to protect us. He was away, had been for awhile."
"I didn’t mean to let them take you Orion. I should have protected you and went myself." I said as I came out of the room.
"That’s not true, you meant to let them take me."
"No I didn’t. You’re mistaken. I love my children how could I be scared and let ‘them’ take you." This went on for a while and finally Orion understood that I hadn’t meant to let ‘them’ take him. There was a sort of bright flash and I had to cover my eyes. When I looked back I saw a little boy of only 5 years. "Orion?"
"Mommy, what happened?"
"Orion, its ok come here."
Orion came over to me and I looked at him. I brushed some of his hair out of his face. Then I hugged him.
"Where’s your dad?"
"Mom dad’s been gone for almost a year…he disappeared."
"Oh, that’s right. Come on let’s put you to sleep." I said as I picked him up and walked to the quest room. "Here you sleep in here."
"But mom this isn’t my room…this is the quest room. My room is over there." He said as he pointed to Jon’s old room.
"Oh yes silly me." I said as I walked to the room. I laid him on the bed. "Now you get some sleep."
I walked to the kitchen and sat down at the table. I looked around and noticed that the door was back to normal as if nothing had happened. Then there was a knock on it. I got up and went over to it.
"Who is it?" I said as I slowly started to unlock it.
"It’s me, Eternal. Can you please open the door my arms are full of wood."
"Oh yes…sure." I said as I opened the door for him.
"Sorry I had to go further then I thought to get the wood…" He said as he looked at me. "What is it you looked like you just saw a ghost."
"Well according to what Orion said…you should be a ghost."
"Orion…what’s he doing here?"
"Well, I think you should sit down for this." I said. Once he was seated I told him what happened and what Orion had said.
"So at this moment our ‘son’ is sleeping in the room at the end of the hall?"
"From his story yes. And you should be dead…"
"Well it’s truly interesting. I think I’ll go look in on our son." Eternal said as he got up and started to head to the room.
"Just don’t’ wake him."
When Eternal came back, he sat down again.
"Eternal you have to realize, when ‘they’ took him, you had been gone for a year. You disappeared he said. So he might not recognize you in the morning. Or for ever how long he’s here in the past."
"Maybe when you told him that you loved him and you didn’t mean to let ‘them’ take him and he changed back to the young Orion. Everything went back to normal."
"But then if everything went back to normal…that means Kain isn’t dead." I said as I sat down across from him.
"Well…I guess, we’ll have to think about this more tomorrow. At the moment I think we should get some sleep." He stood up and walked over to me. He took my hands and lifted me up. "Come on let’s go to bed." Then he started heading to the bedroom.
"Alright." I said as I followed him. When we got to my room, he kissed me good night and then walked to the guestroom. I went in and changed. Then walked over to the bed and got under the covers.
The next morning, Orion woke me up.
"Come on Mom, get up. I wanna go to the Town Square and visit Sarah’s café. Can we go there for breakfast can we?"
"Orion, yes we can visit Sarah’s café for breakfast." I said sitting up in bed and rubbing my eyes.
"Yea! Oh Mom…all my clothes seem to be missing…"
"That’s alright we’ll pick some new clothes up after breakfast ok?"
Orion nodded. Then he left the room and headed back towards his.
"Mom, who’s the strange guy in the guestroom?"
"That’s Eternal." I said as I got out of bed and walked down the hall to the guestroom.
"What’s he doing here?"
"He had a long night. He sleeps here. He rents the room. I’ll wake him. Is it alright if he joins us for breakfast?"
"Sure." Orion said, then he walked into his room.
I walked into the room and sat on the edge of the bed. I brushed some of Eternal’s hair out of his face.
"Time to getup Eternal." I said.
He stirred a little.
"Come on get up."
"Alright…but it’s still early."
"You don’t want to have a cold breakfast do you? Besides I don’t think Sarah would keep it warm for you."
"What?"
"Orion wants to go to Sarah’s café for breakfast, he said you could join us."
"Lucky me." He said as he sat up. He leaned over and kissed me on the cheek.
"Get dressed. We’ll wait." I got up and went to my room and changed. A little while later, Eternal came out of the room dressed. Orion was waiting in the kitchen for us.
"I’m ready." He said.
"Well lead the way." I said. Orion ran out the door. "Excise…I forgot what it was. Orion slow down!" I shook my head and ran after him, Eternal following.
"Sorry Mom."
"That’s okay."
Orion ran ahead again but he stayed close so I could still see him. Eternal took my hand as we walked. Orion turned around and saw us holding hands. He ran back and stepped between us so Eternal couldn’t hold my hand.
"Come on Mom…she doesn’t serve breakfast all day." Orion said as he started to pull me.
"Orion I get the idea. I’ll tell you what. I’ll race you to the café."
"Really Mom…you never let me race you before."
"There’s a first time for everything." I said as I started to run.
"Hey! No fair…you got a head start." Orion said. I looked over my shoulder and he was running after me. I slowed down a little so he could catch up and then he passed me. He reached the café before me.
"I beat you Mom!" Orion said jumping up and down.
"That you did." I said as I took his hand. We walked into the café. Eternal followed.
"Samant, I didn’t expect to see you again so soon." Sarah said when she saw me.
"Sarah, we always have breakfast here." Orion said.
"Sarah, this is Orion." I said.
"Nice to meet you Orion."
"Orion why don’t you find us a spot to sit." I said. He walked around till he found a spot. "Sarah, Orion’s a different. He likes to make up storied. He’s pretending that he’s my son at the moment. So just go along with it."
"Ok, I’ll go along with it."
Eternal, Sarah and I walked over to the table Orion had picked. Eternal and I sat down.
"Well sir what would you like?" Sarah asked Orion.
"My usual…scrambled eggs and a slice of ham." Orion said.
"Very well. Eternal? Samant? What will you have?"
"I’ll have scrambled eggs also, but with 3 pieces of bacon." Eternal said.
"I’ll have a muffin and some scrambled eggs. Oh and a glass of orange juice." I said.
"Alright. Orion and Eternal did you guys want anything to drink?"
"I’ll have milk." Orion said.
"I’ll have orange juice like Sam." Eternal said.
"Ok I’ll be right back with that." Sarah said. She walked off towards the kitchen and gave the order to Omar.
"Mommy…you usually get milk not orange juice…" Orion said.
"I felt like orange juice today."
"What can we do after this?"
"Well what do you want to do?
"Well…I don’t know."
"How about we just eat and go from there." Eternal said.
"Alright." Orion and I said at the same time.
